Despite walking six in five innings of his first major-league start, White Sox right-hander Tyler Danish allowed no runs and three hits while striking out six Saturday in his team’s 3-0 victory against the Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The White Sox loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth inning but managed just one run, on Yolmer Sanchez’s double play groundout.
They didn’t score again until the eighth, when Leury Garcia tripled home pinch-runner Adam Engel to make it 2-0. Jose Abreu followed with a broken-bat single to center to score Garcia to help ensure the Sox’s second win in a row.
Before the game, the Sox (22-25) put second baseman Tyler Saladino on the 10-day disabled list with back spasms and called up Engel, who made his major-league debut.

Omar Narvaez had two hits for the White Sox.
On the mound
Four White Sox relievers held the Tigers to one hit during the final four innings.
