Winter Garden Italian restaurant al Fresco filed for bankruptcy liquidation after five years in business.
After moving from its four-year home last summer to a spot down the street, al Fresco has closed its doors on 126 W. Plant Street.
The chapter 7 bankruptcy petition was filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Orlando Friday, documents show.
Al Fresco, operating under the name Cimino Restaurants LLC, listed less than $50,000 in debts and less than $50,000 in liabilities.
Al Fresco was known for its menu spotlighting local farms in dishes such as homemade ravioli, Florida snapper fillet and marinated olives.
The restaurant was owned by Salvatore Cimino.
That spot on Winter Garden’s main drag has had a tough time keeping restaurants in recent years. Before al Fresco it was another Mediterranean eatery called Catania. Catania was also owned by Cimino.
It was opened only a year. Before that, it was called Sweet Traditions Bakery.
Al Fresco moved last year when its lease expired in the Roper Garden building. Market to Table took the former Al Fresco spot, just behind Axum Coffee.
A lawyer for the restaurant did not respond to a request for comment and the phone number to al Fresco has been disconnected.
