Two police officers fatally shot a man on a roof in Beaverton on Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said.
Officers shot the man near the intersection of Southwest 170th Avenue and Southwest Merlo Road, Beaverton police spokesman Officer Mike Rowe said.
The man was pointing a gun at people inside homes from a rooftop, Rowe said.
Several schools are nearby the intersection, including Merlo Station High School and Beaver Acres Elementary, which is across the street.
Merlo Station and Beaver Acres, as well as the nearby Beaverton School District office and maintenance yard, were placed on lockout for about an hour, district spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler said.
All lockouts were lifted shortly before 9 a.m., Wheeler said.
Buses to Beaver Acres were diverted earlier this morning, Wheeler said. The buses are now coming back to the elementary school, she said.
No other details are immediately available. This post will be updated with more information.
