A woman accused of stabbing her friend to death on Feb. 12 outside a Walmart on the far West Side was arrested Saturday on two charges.

Jasmine M. Segovia, 21, was charged with murder in the death of Latosha Rich, 30. Segovia also was charged with aggravated assault, but details behind that accusation were not immediately available.

Segovia and Rich were among four people who were riding in a white Ford F-150 pickup that pulled into the parking lot of the Walmart in the 11200 block of Potranco Road, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

One of the truck’s occupants, identified as Rich’s boyfriend, told police that he and the fourth person with them left Rich and Segovia in the truck as they went inside the Walmart. Segovia sent the witness a text message saying that she had just stabbed his girlfriend, then met him inside the store, where they embraced and went their separate ways, the witness said, according to the affidavit.

When the witness walked outside, he saw a crowd gathered around Rich, the affidavit stated. Investigators said in the document that Segovia fled to a nearby convenience store, then disappeared from the scene.

Her bail totaled $200,000 for both charges.
