The Easton Area School Board will vote Tuesday to accept the resignation of board member Matt Monahon.
“I am moving due to personal reasons,” the College Hill resident said in an email. “Since I will no longer be a resident of Easton, I must vacate my seat on the school board.”
Monahon has served on the school board since 2013. In a pre-election story that year he described himself as a product manager of a multi-national company with young children in the school district.
School board President Frank Pintabone thanked Monahon for his service.
“He was a great advocate for the district,” Pintabone said. “He was a great advocate for the people of College Hill. We’re sorry to see him leave.”
Monahon was up for re-election this year. Whoever the school board appoints to replace him in the coming weeks will have to run for election this year to keep the seat.
Monahon is one of five candidates on the nine-member school board who is up for re-election. The Pennsylvania primary election will be May 16.
