Four people were fatally shot and 25 others were wounded in shootings during an unusually warm winter weekend.

As of Monday, there have been at least 88 homicides and at least 468 shooting victims, according to data compiled by the Tribune. The number of homicides is a slight decrease from the 90 homicides the city had logged this time last year.

Still, the number of overall shootings continues to increase. Last year around this time, there had been about 437 shooting victims, according to Tribune data. 

Late Sunday, a 69-year-old man was shot in the chin and grazed on his left hand during an attempted robbery in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said. The shooting happened about 10 p.m. in an alley in the 2200 block of East 84th Street. His condition was stabilized at South Shore Hospital. 

Late Saturday, an off-duty Cook County sheriff’s officer was shot in the leg while he was standing in front of a house in the 7300 block of South Aberdeen Street in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. It was unclear if the off-duty officer was the intended target. 

Early Saturday, two shootings in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side left two men dead and three others wounded. That included Willie Cook, 23, who had been at an after-hours gathering in the 5000 block of South Ashland Avenue when gunfire erupted, wounding him multiple times in the back.
