Runners seeking mud hit the jackpot at the 2017 Hagg Lake Mud Run. The event, which travels around Henry Hagg Lake near Forest Grove, included pouring rain, pits of mud several hundred feet long, and a steep, slippery hill called “the slide.”
The two-day event, put on by the Oregon Road Runners Club, features a 50K ultra marathon on Saturday, which travels around the lake twice, and a 25K run on Sunday that circles once.
Unlike other mud runs, such as the Warrior Dash or Tough Mudder, the Hagg Lake Mud Run offers no machine-dug mud pits or elaborate obstacles. It lets nature do the work.
