NEW YORK — P.A. Parenteau, Taylor Hall and Keith Kinkaid will lead the New Jersey Devils into the second game of a back-to-back Metropolitan Division rival, the New York Islanders, led by John Tavares, Andrew Ladd and Johnny Boychuk. The Devils pulled within two points of the Islanders in the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-2 win at the Prudential Center on Saturday, and the teams could be tied with another regulation win for the Devils.

Why Cammalleri won’t play again vs. Isles

The Devils can pull within two points of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with a win (and some help) on Sunday. The Devils have tried to get in a position where they are playing important games in March, and Sunday’s game is a big stepping stone.

“It’s something that we’ve talked about since we’ve taken over here, is try to get ourselves, our team and our organization, back to where we’re competitive at this time of year,” Devils coach John Hynes said. “To do that, you what to play in meaningful games and hard games and learn how to play them, the intensity level you need to play at.”
