Noteworthy: The Vikings’ little sparkplug won the CIF Southern Section girls wrestling 101-pound title, and was one of only three San Gabriel Valley girls wrestlers to win individual titles at lat week’s sectional championships. Gomez also was part of Northview’s team championship. The Vikings had five top-eight medalists to finish first with 175.5 points, ahead of Hillcrest with 160. It was Northview’s third team title in four years. Lopez won the title building a 4-0 lead before holding on for a 6-2 decision over Corona’s Shandrea Shelby in the title match.
