The Lorain County Solar Co-op that signed up 100 members and installed 34 rooftop solar arrays in 2016 is looking for more homeowners to join its ranks.
Most of the co-op’s installations last year were in Lorain County, with a few in Medina County. This time around, anyone throughout Lorain or Medina counties will be eligible to join the co-op.
All members of the co-op use the same installer, Third Sun Solar. The arrangement allows members to have their systems installed at a discount.
Those who are interested in learning more about the co-op are invited to a meeting at the Oberlin Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Information about the co-op can also be obtained by sending an email to solarteam@ohsun.org and including Lorain County or Medina County in the subject line.
People can join the co-op by calling 440-574-0050 or sending contact information to oberlinpeoplesenergycoalition@gmail.com. The deadline for joining the co-op is early May.
The co-op was originally organized by OH SUN (Ohio Solar United Neighborhoods), which is part of the Community Power Network. The network has created solar co-ops in multiple states.
OH SUN is also organizing a co-op in Cuyahoga County and others around the state.
