Police have arrested two armed robbers who committed recent crimes in Waukegan, authorities said in a news release Thursday.
The first armed robbery took place about 6 p.m. Sunday at a Citgo gas station on the 1000 block of Golf Road. One thief displayed a silver handgun and took money, firing the gun but not injuring anyone, Waukegan police said.
On Wednesday, a man entered La Zapopan Bakery on the 2000 block of Washington Street about 4 p.m. and displayed a silver handgun. The robber took money and fired the gun into the ceiling of the business, police said.
Witnesses were able to give a description of the thief’s vehicle, and officers quickly spotted the car and stopped it near Lewis Avenue and 10th Street. Three people were arrested without incident, police said.
Lavon Davis, 31, of Chicago was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm. He remains in Lake County jail on $500,000 bail.
Chrishon Wright, 18, of Round Lake, was charged with armed robbery and reckless discharge of a firearm. Police believe he was involved in planning the second robbery and was in the getaway car. He remains in Lake County jail on $200,000 bail.
Tyree Gulley, 18, of Zion was wanted on a warrant from Minnesota and remains in Lake County jail waiting extradition.
