The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority is searching for a major leak that is draining water from two of the authority's largest reservoirs.

PWSA said in a statement that it's having difficulty maintaining water levels in the Lanpher Reservoir in Shaler and the Highland 2 Reservoir in Highland Park. Lanpher is the authority's largest reservoir with capacity to hold up to 133 million gallons. Highland 2 holds up to 125 million gallons.

The authority suspects the leak is in an area serviced by one of the two reservoirs and said it presents no threat to water quality or water supply.

Crews will close valves on three water mains crossing the Allegheny River in an attempt to isolate the leak.
