NEW YORK — Rumor, a 5-year-old female German shepherd whose owner is from a Toledo suburb, was selected Tuesday night as best in show at the 141st Westminster Dog Show.
Rumor just missed winning best in show in 2016, according to the Associated Press, and is just the second German shepherd to take top honors at Westminster.
Rumor’s owner, Kent Boyles, is from Maumee, Ohio.
Rumor beat out a Norwegian elkhound, a Pekingese, a miniature poodle, an Irish setter, a boxer and a Norwich terrier in the final ring. Nearly 2,800 dogs, which included 202 breeds and varieties, were in the competition.
