Firefighters called Tuesday night to an old hotel that had been converted into a home found a major fire, a Lehigh County 911 dispatch supervisor confirmed.
The blaze was reported about 6:45 p.m. at the old three-story Rockdale Hotel, 1806 Rockdale Road in North Whitehall Township.
Firefighters from companies in Lehigh and Northampton counties responded to assist the township’s fire departments, the dispatcher said.
One person was initially trapped in the fire but was rescued, and no one was reported injured as of about 8 p.m.
The structure was destroyed, with little but the exterior walls left standing, images from the scene indicated.
The effort was expected to continue for several hours, according to the dispatcher.
