Travelers who board Spirit Airlines flights at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport won't have to go far to sign up for a Precheck expedited security clearance program.

Agents will be on hand at the airport terminal Feb. 27 through March 3 to register passengers for the Transportation Security Administration program, which was introduced last month at the Unity airport. Registration must be completed in person and normally would require area residents to travel to sites in Pittsburgh or North Versailles.

The program allows participants to proceed through the airport's security checkpoint without taking off their shoes, belts or light jackets or removing laptops and liquids from carry-on bags. Passengers can enroll for five years for a fee of $85. Visit identogo.com to pre-register and make an appointment with agents at the Unity airport.
