SALEM — Salem County Clerk Gilda Gill continued her Valentine’s Day tradition Tuesday by marrying area couples.
Another married couple was also on hand — to renew their vows.
The ceremony, now in its 14th year, was conducted at no cost and included couples from the county and beyond.
“It’s actually a pleasure and joy to do this,” Gill said after the ceremony. One of the powers of a county clerk in New Jersey is the ability to perform weddings.
“Everything went very smoothly,” she said after the ceremony.
Those married by Gill included Virginia Dipsary Rodriguez of Carneys Point and Eusebio Alvarez Ramirez of Bridgeton, Shianne Marie Ellis of Oldmans Township and Armando Dominguez of Vineland and Jazmine Carisa Cora of Washington Township in Gloucester County and Risharee Alfonzo Santos of Clemonton.
Also on hand were Russell and Carol Drummond of Alloway who took the opportunity to renew their vows.
The ceremony was held in the main conference room in the county’s Fifth Street Complex which was specially decorated for the occasion. The clerk’s office is located in the building.
After the vows were exchanged, the newlyweds group enjoyed light refreshments
“We’ll do it again next year,” Gill said.
