A minivan used to transport people to and from medical appointments was stolen outside the Jersey City company’s office on Harrison Avenue this morning, Jersey City police said.

The Access Care Transport employee told police that he had pulled out the company minivan onto Harrison Avenue and kept it running while he put his personal car in the parking lot at 5:30 a.m. While he was parking his car, a man walked up to the minivan, jumped in and drove off, police said.

The Access Care employee followed the car thief, and at one point, the man in the stolen minivan pointed his hand like a gun at the victim, police said, although the victim said he never saw an actual gun.

The Access Care employee lost track of the minivan in the Journal Square area, he told police. Police found the minivan in the Hudson County Community College parking lot at 161 Newkirk St. a short time later, police said.
