CLEVELAND, Ohio – The 59th Annual Grammys telecast wasn’t enough to stop zombies from taking a big chunk out of its younger audience.
“The Walking Dead’s” midseason premiere drew 12 million total viewers and 7.3 million in the important 18 to 49 demographic. That’s pretty impressive going up against a huge Grammys telecast, which earned a 7.8 rating in that demographic, while pulling in more than 26 million total viewers.
“The Walking Dead” numbers should look even better once the On-Demand and DVR figures are calculated later this week. The show typically dominates in that category and will likely see increased figures since it was up against a live event.
“TWD’s” midseason premiere ratings were up 13 percent from December’s midseason finale. That should calm anyone worried about the show’s reign as cable’s top series after a polarizing run of episodes.
