CLEVELAND, Ohio — Comedy, mystery and an in-depth look at one of the most influential television shows of all time are among the batch of recently released titles on Blu-ray DVD.
“Star Trek: The Original Series – The Roddenberry Vault” (CBS/Paramount)
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of “Star Trek” – one of the most influential shows in television history, CBS Home Entertainment has released a three-disc collector’s edition Blu-ray set for Trekkies an general fans alike.
Each disc features documentaries that weave together the previously unseen Vault materials, complete with commentary from story editors and writers of the original series.
Highlights include an in-depth look at the quintessential episode, “The Corbomite Manuever,” which is considered the template for what “Star Trek,” as we know it, would become.
There’s also a discussion about the introduction of the character, Khan, played by Ricardo Montalban; as well as a closer look at another pivotal episode, “This Side of Paradise,” where Spock is able to experience human emotions.
Bonus content includes bloopers, deleted scenes and an in-depth discussion on the creation of the pseudo-villain, Balok.
