ANAHEIM >> Disneyland’s Mickey and Friends parking structure was evacuated Monday evening after several vehicles caught fire, authorities said. Four employees were hospitalized.

Seven Disney employees suffered smoke inhalation. Four were taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and the rest declined to be transported, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department.

At least nine vehicles were involved in the incident, he added. The blaze was reported just before 5 p.m. and out 30 minutes later.

During the evacuation, the trams serving the structure were halted.

For most, the fire was just an inconvenience.

“A lot of people are just tired, they’ve been here all day. It’s more of a nuisance than anything,” Darren Clark, whose family of four couldn’t get to their car because of the shutdown, told KNBC-TV. “I’m kind of hoping it’s not my vehicle.”

“I need to get home, because Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and I’m not a morning person,” said Calista Thomas, 9, of Fontana. “I have to get (my) hair done and put on a cute dress and boots.”

The Mickey and Friends parking structure has 10,000 spaces.
