An Allentown woman stabbed her husband in the head, and then called police to claim he cut himself in a suicide attempt, city police said.
When police arrived Saturday night at the couple’s home in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue, they found the victim bleeding heavily from a seven-inch cut on his head and a carpenter’s knife in his hand.
An Allentown police officer secured the knife, and EMS took the victim to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill. The victim told EMS personnel his wife was the one who stabbed him, according to police.

While the victim was in emergency surgery, police spoke with his wife, Barbara Ann Entzminger, who was in the hospital waiting room.
The 66-year-old Entzminger admitted stabbing her husband during an argument about his drinking problem, police said.
Entzminger reportedly admitted putting the knife in her husband’s hand, waiting at least 10 minutes to call police, and making up the story that he cut himself and was suicidal.
Entzminger was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She was sent to Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $18,000 bail, and was still there as of Monday afternoon.
