ST. PETERSBURG — A Beechcraft T-34B Mentor carrying two people crashed Saturday afternoon at Albert Whitted Airport on the St. Petersburg waterfront.
No one was hurt in the accident that city officials described as "minor."
It happened about 4:40 p.m., when the civilian-operated, single-engine airplane struck the seawall at the end of the airport’s Runway 25 and landed hard in the grass, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.
The FAA will investigate the incident, Bergen said.
The T-34B was used primarily as a trainer for the Navy until early 1970s. Production began in 1955.
