NORTH HOLLYWOOD >> A 55-year-old woman was killed Friday after being struck by a taxi.
The crash was reported at 12:10 a.m. near the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Satsuma Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau.
Described as Hispanic, 5 feet 3 inches tall and 150 pounds, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer John Guzman.
The woman was 55 years old, he added, and had brown hair and brown eyes.
Guzman said it appeared she was jaywalking, or crossing outside of a crosswalk, on Victory Boulevard between Riverton and Satsuma avenues.
A green United Independent Taxi vehicle traveling westbound on Victory struck the woman as she attempted to cross the street.
The taxi driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police. No use of drugs or alcohol is suspected in the incident, Guzman said.
