PORT ST. LUCIE – The Mets traded right-handed pitcher Gabriel Ynoa to the Orioles for cash considerations on Friday, clearing space on the 40-man roster.

The Mets needed the spot for reliever Fernando Salas once his deal becomes official.

Ynoa, 23, had some impressive minor league numbers. He was called up in 2016 and appeared in 10 games for the Mets, including three starts. The right-hander was 1-0 with a 6.38 ERA over 18 1/3 innings. He struck out 17 and walked seven. At Triple-A Las Vegas, Ynoa was 12-5 with a 3.97 ERA.

The Mets, if their starters stay healthy, have a loaded rotation. The Orioles are looking for arms.

“Gabriel Ynoa is young, strong, durable and talented,” Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said in a statement. “Our scouts feel he can develop into a major league starting pitcher by developing a consistent breaking pitch.’’

David Wright completed his third day of working out with the Mets on Field 2 in pre-camp workouts. He has been going out every other day. Wright again ran and fielded balls at third base. He did not throw. He has not yet graduated to that aspect of his comeback since undergoing neck surgery last June. Wright then went to the covered batting cages to hit. … Michael Conforto joined the workouts.
