Nysheed Gleaton panicked, put the .380-caliber handgun in his pocket and ran into his house in the first block of West Goepp Street, police said.

Gleaton then stowed the gun in a toilet, according to police.

Gleaton was arrested and charged Friday with receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm where it is prohibited.

Gleaton was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Bethlehem police were called for a report of shots fired at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday near West Goepp and North New streets.

“Numerous” witnesses reported they heard what sounded like two gunshots on West Goepp Street, and saw a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans, police said.

Officers began searching the area, when one of them saw a man matching the description running away and into 50 W. Goepp St., police said.

Police made contact with the man, who was identified as Gleaton, and other residents in the house.

Gleaton reportedly told police he was on a walk when he found the gun, and that it was fired on Radley Street at West Goepp Street.

A resident in the home allowed police to search, and officers found the handgun in the toilet, police said. The gun was reported stolen in December, according to police.

Investigators also found two .380-caliber casings on Radley Street.
