A married couple in Michigan allegedly sought sex with teenagers they knew through their 16-year-old daughter — and even offered money to record the trysts at their home, authorities said.
Anuj Chopra, 41, has been charged with human trafficking for allegedly trying to entice two teenage boys to engage in sex for money. Chopra is accused of offering them $100 for sex acts he wanted to record at the couple’s home in Hudsonville, according to court documents cited by WOOD-TV.
Chopra’s wife, Leslie, 42, allegedly tried to entice a 16-year-old boy to have sex by sending inappropriate photos through Snapchat. She has been charged with distributing sexually explicit materials to minors and using a computer to commit a crime.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said investigators don’t believe any of the proposed sexual acts ever took place involving the teens, who have been identified by authorities.
The Chopras were acquainted with the victims through their 16-year-old daughter, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, which launched an investigation after getting a tip from a concerned parent. Detectives then executed search warrants on several electronic devices related to the case.
The couple surrendered to authorities Wednesday before being released on bond. It’s unclear whether they had hired an attorney as of Friday and their next date in court has yet to be scheduled.
Neighbors of the Chopras told the local NBC affiliate that the couple moved to Hudsonville from Chicago a few years ago.
