The body found Monday evening off Route 31 in Lake in the Hills has been identified as a missing Chicago man suffering from memory loss, the McHenry County coroner’s office said Thursday.

Lawrence “Larry” Johnson, 69, was considered a missing and endangered person by police, who said he was last seen on foot early Thursday, Jan. 26, behind a Crystal Lake Walmart at 1205 S. Route 31.

On Monday, a construction worker found a body in the mud in a construction area near the 8000 block of South Route 31 south of Rakow Road — about a half-mile from the Walmart.

An autopsy conducted Thursday determined hypothermia played a role in Johnson’s death. No other evidence of trauma or suspicious circumstances were found, coroner’s officials said. Toxicology results are pending.
