PATERSON – A Mercer County man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a 50-year-old man near an abandoned home, authorities said Thursday.

Frank P. Edwin, 50, of Paterson was found about 11 a.m. near 52 Paterson St. on Wednesday suffering from multiple stab wounds. He died at the scene.

Werner Bang, 28, of Highstown, was arrested Wednesday night in Paterson and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Deputy Police Chief Troy Oswald.

Bang was arrested without incident, they said.

If convicted, Bang faces life in prison with no parole eligibility for 30 years, the prosecutor said.

A motive for the killing was not disclosed.

An arraignment was scheduled for Friday afternoon.
