A man was shot in the back and ear Thursday afternoon on the South Side.

The shooting happened in the 6800 block of South Harper Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood and wounded an 18-year-old man in his back and left ear, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition has stabilized, Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Curtis Hudson and police said.

An ambulance was called to the 1500 block of East 68th Street about 1:35 p.m., Hudson said.
