WEEHAWKEN — Winter storm Niko provided some snow day fun for Hudson County residents today.

Instead of work or school, several locals got to enjoy the snow on the hills and streets of Weehawken, while others took the snow day as an opportunity to make a few extra bucks.

Dave Lambert, 44, a Hoboken musician, brought his son Rowan, 11, out to bare the cold and do some sledding.

“Later we go home and do homework, right now we are taking advantage and having some fun,” Lambert said.

Weehawken resident Johnny Ford, 45, a tattoo artist, was out walking his dog Magic who did not seem to mind the snow at all. They both were happy to have the day off.

Some young entrepreneurs saw dollar signs instead of snowflakes. Union City residents, Victor Castro, 15, Christian Argueta, 16, and Sebastian Martinez, 18, spent their day off from Union City High School knocking on doors to offer their snow shoveling services to anyone looking to avoid the backbreaking work.

“It’s cold, but it should snow more so we can make more money,” Castro said.
