CLEVELAND, Ohio — A semi driver crashed into a power pole about noon Thursday, severing the pole and leaving live power lines on the sidewalk.

The driver crashed into the pole on Superior Avenue as he turned onto East 45th Street, police said.

The driver initially kept driving, but looped around the block and came back to the scene, police said.

The impact ripped the pole off near the base. The pole, that supported two large transformers, crashed to the ground.

No one was injured.

Police blocked Superior between East 41st and East 47th. Cleveland Public Power and Spectrum cable are at the scene.

The crash caused a power outage south of Superior in the immediate neighborhood, officials said.
