TRENTON — President Donald Trump’s comments slamming the federal judiciary over rulings halting portions of his controversial travel ban did not sit well with the president’s nominee for a seat on the Supreme Court, according to reports.

But the president is already pushing back against accounts that Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch told a Democratic lawmaker Trump’s comments were “disheartening” and “demoralizing.”

Trump this week has repeatedly taken to Twitter to slam federal judge’s for their decisions on his executive order blocking immigration from several majority-Muslim countries.

“What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?” he posted on Twitter over the weekend.

Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!

Multiple media outlets, including The Washington Post and NBC News, have since reported that Gorsuch made the comments in a private meeting with Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut.

Members of the president’s transition team later confirmed the account, according to the Associated Press.

But Trump on Thursday tried to discredit the news accounts by questioning the credibility of Blumenthal, who was found during his Senate bid to have exaggerated his service during the Vietnam War.

Sen.Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie),now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?
