CLEVELAND, Ohio – We’re just a few days away from the return of “The Waking Dead” Season 7.
Given how much criticism the first half of this season drew from fans, expect things to pick up during the second half. That will likely mean more death, as Rick and company prepare for a war with the Saviors.
Based on the comic book storylines and a few rumors floating around the web, here are five characters we probably won’t see during Season 8:
Richard
This might be the easiest prediction. Ezekiel’s right-hand man at the Kingdom has no fear when it comes to the Saviors and has already expressed his interest in a war against Negan’s crew. That will ultimately be Richard’s downfall. Now that Rick is leading the charge against the Saviors, expect Richard to do anything he can to get in on the action, even if it means disobeying Ezekiel’s orders.
Benjamin
Ezekiel is all about peaceful living, which means he probably won’t be willing (at least not initially) to go along with Rick’s plan to fight the Saviors. But you have to assume he’ll come around. Of course, he’ll need some motivation. That could come in the form of Benjamin. Ezekiel asked Morgan to train his young protege. But you just get the feeling that Benjamin is the most likely sacrificial lamb, whose potential death could be the push Ezekiel needs to go up against the Saviors.
Eric
Speaking of motivation, maybe it’s time for Aaron to receive some. We saw his boyfriend Eric briefly during the first half of Season 7. Maybe that’s a sign of things to come. In the comic, Eric dies in Aaron’s arms during an attack on the Saviors. Considering the show hasn’t done much with Eric so far, the comic book storyline could work its way onto the TV series.
Gregory
It’s pretty obvious Gregory isn’t built to last in a zombie apocalypse. He’s managed to sit atop the Hilltop Colony because Jesus has let him. But now that Maggie is emerging as the leader of the community, there might not be room for Gregory anymore. And, if the Hilltop does join the war against the Saviors, expect Negan’s crew to take their anger out on Gregory before anyone else.
Sasha
There are two characters willing to use any means necessary to take down Negan. We’ve already seen Rosita take her shot and live to tell about it. Sasha will probably be next. There are rumors that Sasha’s attempt to kill Negan will end horribly and she could get Holly’s death from the comic book. I won’t spoil it hear, but it’s pretty epic.
