LeBron James and the Cavaliers were in Indiana on Wednesday night, but Charles Oakley’s plight at the Garden wasn’t far from the King’s mind.
Shortly after the Cavaliers defeated the Pacers, James went to Instagram and posted a picture of Oakley in his customary road Knicks’ uniform along with the caption, “Mood!! #Legend.”
James’ post was in response to Oakley having to be escorted out of the Garden, a place where he claimed iconic status, and subsequently placed in handcuffs following a shoving match with security.
Oakley was charged with three counts of assault and criminal trespass, all misdemeanors, and was released Wednesday night from Midtown Precinct South with a desk appearance ticket.
Security had been called to Oakley’s section of the stands because he was reportedly heckling Knicks’ owner James Dolan, with whom he has had a long-running feud.
As security surrounded the 6-foot-8 forward, Oakley became more agitated which led to him being dragged out by a horde of security.
The Knicks PR account addressed the incident shortly following the Oakley’s outburst.
“Charles Oakley came to the game tonight and behaved in a highly inappropriate and completely abusive manner. He has been ejected and is currently being arrested by the New York City Police Department. He was a great Knick and we hope he gets some help soon.”
Though, it seems the King disagrees with who truly needs the help.
