PORT ST. LUCIE — For the second time in three days, David Wright joined his Mets teammates on the field Wednesday and went through some light running and defensive drills at third base.

Wright was at the complex early as he continues to rehab from neck surgery that ended his season last June. Shortly before 10 a.m., he joined his teammates on Field 2 in the voluntary workout. After running drills and stretching, Wright went to third base on the artificial turf and took ground balls off the bat of bench coach Dick Scott for about 10 minutes.

Wright did not take part in any throwing drills and, like Monday, did not throw any balls to first base after fielding it. Instead he tossed them behind the bag at third. As he left the field with a bat in his hands — he did not hit with the hitting groups — Wright told The Post he felt “fantastic’’ and was clearly pleased with the progress he is making.

Over the last two years Wright has played in only 75 games. His comeback is being carefully monitored. He has been hitting since Christmas in the batting cage. Wright underwent neck surgery June 16 and is dealing with back issues. Last month he told The Post there would be a steady progression of drills, but everything would have to come in due time. Throwing is not yet on the agenda. Wright spent much of his time during the running drills alongside Lucas Duda, who is returning from a stress fracture in his back. Duda returned in September to play eight games (23 at-bats), hitting .217 with no home runs.

Shortly before 9 a.m. the Mets equipment truck rolled into the parking lot and was quickly unloaded by equipment manager Kevin Kierst’s crew. The truck left Citi Field on Friday. … Fans attending spring training games at Tradition Field will now go through a higher level of security checks as metal detectors have been installed at the front gates. … The team’s first workout is scheduled for Tuesday around 10 a.m. The public is welcome.
