Albany — A 49-year-old Albany man has been arrested in connection with two forcible touching incidents Wednesday, including one involving a 15-year-old girl on her way to school.

Jules White, of Albany, was apprehended Wednesday around 9:20 a.m. in the area of New Scotland Avenue and Quail Street after police matched him to a description they had just received from a victim. The incident occurred in the same area, they say. A 22-year-old woman reported she was walking on New Scotland Avenue when the man approached her from behind and grabbed her waist and then buttocks. She ran away and called police.

As police were responding to the scene they noticed White, stopped him and took him into custody. He was also connected to an incident earlier that morning that involved a 15-year-old girl, police say. The girl was walking to Hackett Middle School and was near Morton Avenue and South Hawk Street when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks, police said.

The girl ran away and told school officials what happened, district officials reported.

White was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree attempted sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

He is expected to be arraigned in Albany City Court.

Albany City School District Interim Superintendent Kimberly Wilkins sent a letter to families notifying them of the incident. See the full letter below, which includes a list of safety tips that parents and guardians are asked to review with their children.
