If Warriors owner Joe Lacob’s story is on the up and up, it just reaffirms one thing: It doesn’t matter if you’re a teammate, a rival or an NBA owner, Michael Jordan is straight-up savage.

Jordan "hurt me the most" by downplaying the Warriors’ record 73 wins, Lacob recalled during an appearance on a San Francisco area sports radio station Tuesday. Lacob and Jordan, the owner of the Hornets and former Bulls legend, were attending a dinner in New York with other labor committee members.

"People are drinking and having a good time and all that, but there was a moment where he said, you know, ’73 don’t mean …,’ Lacob said on KGMZ-FM 95.7 The Game. "He did it. Michael Jordan did that. And I looked at him and I just decided not to make a big deal of it. I said: ‘You know, you’re right, we didn’t win it, we had to get better.’ "

Last season, the Warriors topped the 72-10 campaign by Jordan’s 1995-96 Bulls by finishing the regular season with four straight victories to establish an NBA record 73 win. The Warriors, however, squandered a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals to the Cavaliers.

Jordan’s 72-win Bulls won the title that season. The Warriors’ achievement still counts by some measure, but don’t expect Lacob to  bring that up to Jordan.

"He is fantastic, and I’m not going to cross him, but that kind of hurt,” Lacob said.
