AKRON, Ohio – Popular magazine Hi-Fructose has filled its pages with contemporary art since 2005. The newest exhibit at Akron Art Museum, 1 High St., “Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose,” will celebrate the quarterly’s decade of showcasing bold, innovative artwork that pushes the boundaries.

“Turn the Page” opens with a reception 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10. Organized by the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Akron will be the second stop on the touring show. It runs through May 7 before heading to the Crocker Art Museum of Sacramento, CA, in June.

The show includes more than 50 artists whose mediums span sculpture, video, oil paintings and more. Works draw inspiration from just as wide-ranging of a pool, from pop culture to politics.

Friday’s opening reception will feature a performance by New York City-based Olek, an experimental musician and artist who is featured in the exhibit.
