CLEVELAND, Ohio — In the movie “Avatar,” it takes five years to travel from earth to the alien planet of Pandora. You’ll soon be able to get there on a three-hour flight from Cleveland.

That’s because the long-awaited Pandora: The World of Avatar attraction at World Disney World in Florida will finally open May 27, Disney chief Bob Iger announced on Tuesday.

“This is a very big land with an extremely unique design and architecture because it does make you feel that you’re in Pandora, the great world [James Cameron] created,” Iger said, according to Variety. “To the extent that we can know this, we really believe in coming years that the interest in ‘Avatar’ is only going to grow.”

Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, first announced in 2011, is an immersive themed-land akin to what neighboring Universal Studios has done with the “Harry Potter” franchise. Attractions include the Na’vi River Journey, which takes visitors through a bioluminescent rainforest. You’ll also be able to fly through the landscape of the planet on top of Mountain Banshee.

“Avatar,” released in 2009, is the highest-grossing movie of all-time with a box office take of nearly $2.8 billion worldwide. The first of four planned sequels is expected to begin production soon, though some suspect it may already have.

Iger, in his quarterly earnings call, also announced the two “Star Wars”-themed lands currently under construction at Disneyland in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida will open in 2019. That opening date would put it in line with the release of “Star Wars: Episode IX.”
