DALLAS — Evan Turner is likely out of the Portland Trail Blazers lineup for a while, after fracturing a bone in his right hand on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

Turner appeared to suffer the injury with under eight minutes left in the third quarter when he tried to get through a screen set by Mavericks forward Harrison Barnes.

Turner left the game for good with 5:07 remaining in the third quarter. The Blazers announced that he fractured the third metacarpal in his right hand, but gave no timetable for his return.

Turner, who signed a four-year, $70 million contract with the Blazers in July, is averaging 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists this season. He had started the last nine games for the Blazers.
