A Bethlehem resident who collapsed from a heart attack while walking Tuesday on the city’s South Side is expected to survive, thanks to the quick action of two good Samaritans and three police officers.
Bethlehem police shared the story Tuesday night on their Facebook account, and included video from a surveillance camera showing a portion of the response.
Police responded to the medical call about 4:50 p.m. in the area of Sands Boulevard and Daly Avenue near Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.
Officers Costas Alestas, Ryan Danko and Michael Karavoulis arrived to find a nurse and a construction workers already with the man, performing CPR, according to the Facebook page.

The officers continued CPR and administered shocks from an automated external defibrillator until paramedics with Bethlehem EMS arrived.
The man, whom police did not identify, was taken for treatment to an area hospital.
“A job well done by all and best wishes to the patient for a full recovery,” police said in the Facebook post.
