Universal City police on Tuesday discovered a wrapped body that had been inside the trunk of a car at a Universal City apartment complex for days.

Lt. Steve Mihalski said officers responded to an apartment complex in the 500 block of Dukeway Drive around 9:40 a.m., after the property owner called about a Pontiac Grand Prix that had been parked at the apartment for days and was starting to stink.

When officers arrived, they found a body, wrapped in a substance Mihalski declined to describe, inside the Grand Prix’s trunk.

Medical examiners decided to leave the body wrapped, so police don’t know the victim’s name, age or sex at this time. But police definitely suspect foul play.

“This is definitely being investigated as a homicide,” Mihalski said.

The body was removed from the trunk around 1 p.m.

Police are currently investigating the incident.
