CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s official, Cleveland, we’ve tied the high temperature record for today, previously set in 1925, when the mercury hit 60 degrees around 1 p.m.

Cleveland Hopkins Airport has hit 60 degrees so far today. This ties the record set in 1925. #ohwx #clewx

The warm temperatures are due to both a passing warm front, and strong southerly flow dragging in that warm, moist air from the Gulf.

The high usually peaks around 2 to 3 p.m., so we could still break the record too, not just tie it.

That heavy moisture sparked instability which also caused strong thunderstorms, so strong that the National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a flood warning for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties through 11:30 p.m. tonight.
