CLEVELAND, Ohio — The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a flood warning for the Grand River at Painesville in effect this evening through Wednesday afternoon.
Three more flood warnings are in effect across Northeast Ohio, two are for rivers: one for the Cuyahoga River at Independence, and another for the Chagrin River at Willoughby. An aerial flood warning is in effect across Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties through 11:30 p.m.
At 12 p.m., the Grand River was 6.3 feet deep, and flood stage is at 8 feet.
Minor flooding is in the forecast, and the river will rise above flood stage this afternoon and rise to near 8.4 feet by this evening. The river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday morning, according to the warning.
At 8.5 feet, lowland flooding in the adjacent metropark is likely, and Vrooman Rd. will become inundated.
