WESTAMPTON TWP. — Authorities are continuing their investigation into a string of robbery attempts at local gas stations, Westampton police said Monday.

The first incident was reported shortly after 10:20 p.m. on Saturday. At that time, Westampton police responded to the Gulf gas station along Burlington-Mount Holly Road for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The station attendant told police that the duo, who were wearing all black clothing and covering their faces with hoods, approached him and demanded money. After one of the suspects allegedly held a handgun to the victim’s chest, the attendant handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspects fled along Woodlane Road toward Eastampton Township.

A search of the area with assistance from Eastampton and Mount Holly police failed to find the alleged suspects and the case remains under investigation.

Westampton police were dispatched at 11:10 a.m. Sunday to the Valero gas station along Burlington-Mount Holly Road for a report of a robbery that had just occurred. The trio sought in this incident, two women and a man, were all dressed in dark clothing and fled on foot toward Western Drive after allegedly robbing the attendant inside the convenience store.

While investigating with help from Burlington Township and Medford police departments, a BP gas station worker along Route 541 reported to authorities that the same trio allegedly tried to rob him, as well.

“However, he was able to lock himself inside of the business when he saw three subjects wearing masks approach the business,” Westampton police said Monday.

The robberies remain under investigation by Westampton police. Readers with information may contact authorities at 609-267-3000 ext. 145.
