SAN ANTONIO — A man shot Monday afternoon in a parking lot of a restaurant on the West Side ran across four lanes of traffic to a gas station before collapsing, police said at the scene.
Sgt. Daniel Gonzalez said officers responded to gunfire around 1:50 p.m. in the 1500 block of Castroville Road.
Gonzalez said the victim walked up to a black SUV in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant when one of the occupants shot him and the vehicle fled.

The victim ran across Castroville Road to a nearby gas station, where he collapsed. He was shot multiple times in the torso, but was able to tell first responders what happened before he was transported to University Hospital, according to police.
“He’s in bad condition,” Gonzalez said.
A helicopter unit is airborne searching the area for the suspected vehicle and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
