Wilson wrestler Jared Corriere picked up his 100th career win on a big stage.

The senior held off Saucon Valley’s Paul Miller to clinch a 1-0 decision at 126 pounds in the District 11 Class 2A team final on Saturday night at Freedom High School.

Despite the Warriors’ falling to the Panthers in the final, earning the milestone in a championship atmosphere was special for Corriere.

“It was a pretty exciting atmosphere. Everybody in the crowd cheering me on. It was pretty exciting, especially getting it in the district finals. It was cool,” Corriere said.

“He was amped up and excited to wrestle for it tonight and went out and got it. He could see the Wilson contingent was ready for it. I don’t know where the signs came from but they were on it. And they gave him a nice little applause for doing it,” Wilson coach Tom Mertz said.

Corriere, who dropped an 11-6 decision to Miller two weeks ago before turning the tables on Saturday night, couldn’t say enough about what the Wilson fans have meant to his career.

“It’s been great,” Corriere said. “All the fans from Wilson. A lot of support. It’s really nice.”
