Robbery, Detroit Road: A 28-year-old Lorain man stole $234 worth of property Jan. 27 from a store. He fought with two employees, turning a shoplifting into a robbery to support his drug habit. Police arrested the man for robbery, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Suspicious situation, Crocker Road: A Cleveland woman left her $800 phone on the table of a restaurant Jan. 28. When she went back to get it, it was gone.
Disorderly conduct while intoxicated, First Street: A Mentor on the Lake man shot up Jan. 28 in the restroom of a First Street business and passed out with the syringe in his hand. He falsely claimed to be a diabetic, according to police. He was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and possession of drug abuse instruments. He is on federal probation and police informed his probation officer of his arrest.
Disorderly conduct while intoxicated, Detroit Road: An intoxicated 28-year-old Westlake man found the door unlocked Jan. 29 at a Detroit Road business. He let himself in and enjoyed a muffin while setting off the store’s alarm. He was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after store management gave him a pass on possible breaking and entering and petty theft charges.
Stolen van recovered, Center Ridge Road: An officer spotted a stolen 2006 Ford van Jan. 29 in a parking lot. The column had been peeled when it was stolen Jan. 23 in Cleveland. It was towed and Cleveland police were notified.
Repeat drunken driver: For the second time in less than a week, an intoxicated 50-year-old Westlake woman was cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. She was at a Main Street business and had to be taken to St. John Medical Center by Westlake fire because of her level of intoxication.
Receiving stolen property, Detroit Road: Police arrested a 32-year-old Cleveland man Jan. 30 for receiving stolen property after catching him driving around with a stolen temporary tag on his car. Officers stopped him as he dropped off his girlfriend. He also was cited for driving under suspension and fictitious plates.
Theft, Crocker Park Boulevard: A thief stole clothing from a store Jan. 30 worth $169. Staff got the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle, a rental car, and promised to provide surveillance video of the theft. The rental agency provided information on the 26-year-old Akron woman who rented the car.
Impaired driving, Columbia Road: A 33-year-old Cleveland man Jan. 31 hit a tow truck while it was hooking up a vehicle from an earlier crash. Police arrested the man for operating a vehicle while impaired after he refused sobriety testing. He also refused a breath test at the jail and was cited for failing to go around a stationary emergency vehicle.
Theft, Detroit Road: A Westlake man’s $800 phone was taken about 8 p.m. Jan. 31 from a Detroit Road tavern.
