Stolen auto, Brookpark Road: A 2000 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the Great Northern Plazas parking lot about 6 p.m. Jan. 25. The owner’s son, who had been driving the car, reported about $1,000 in tools were in the Jeep when he parked it outside a home improvement store. The Jeep and tools disappeared while he was inside the store.

Fraud: A city resident told police Jan. 25 that he was the victim of an apparent fraud linked to his computer. The man said he had been on the internet two days earlier when a popup window advised his computer was infected with a virus and directed him to call a company in Justin, Texas to resolve the problem. The company charged him $200 to “fix his computer” remotely. The victim sent a check to the company but was contacted a few days later demanding further payment. North Olmsted police contacted the Justin, Texas, police department about the complaint.

Theft from auto, Columbia Road: Police were called about 10 a.m. Jan. 23 to an apartment complex where a Honda Accord was missing four wheels. The car was resting on milk crates. The owner said the wheel and rims were stolen between 10 p.m. Jan. 22 and 8:45 a.m. Jan. 23.

Fraud: A woman came to the police station Jan. 23 and reported she was the victim of a cash advance fraud. A man called claiming to represent a cash advance company and offered her a $2,000 loan. The man told her to buy some iTune gift cards and send him photos of the cards with the pin numbers scratched off. The man never advanced the woman any money or paid her bills. Police called the phone number the woman used to contact the man, but the person who answered hung up when police phoned.

Petty theft, Great Northern Mall: Police arrested a 25-year-old woman Jan. 27 after Macy’s store security watched the woman walk out of the store with clothing she never bought.
