HOUSTON — Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the AFC Champion New England Patriots will play for their fifth Vince Lombardi Trophy in the franchise’s nine Super Bowl appearances Sunday against Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons at NRG Stadium Houston, Texas in a 6:30 p.m. kickoff on Sunday Feb. 5.
While the Patriots are making their ninth playoff appearance and seventh guided by Brady and Belichick, the Falcons are making just their second appearance in the NFL’s championship game and will be in search of their first Super Bowl victory.
Atlanta claimed the NFC South division championship and No. 2 seed in the conference with an 11-5 regular season thanks largely to the NFL’s highest-rated offense. Meanwhile, the Patriots capped another season with the AFC East championship with 14-2 and the conference’s No. 2 playoff seed.
